NMB to pump Sh2 billion in supporting health, education sectors

NMB Bank Plc has set a budget of over 2 billion shillings for supporting education and health sectors countrywide as part of its corporate social responsibility, CSR.

Implementing the policy, the bank supported desks, chairs, building and health  materials amounting to 72.5 million to public schools, hospitali and health centre in Kinondoni, Bunda na Kaliua districts respectively.

While Kinondoni district received health and education equipment amounting to over 50 million shillings, donation to Bunda district worth 13.5 million shillings and items worth over 9 million went to Kaliua district respectively. 

Mwananyamala Hospital and Bunju Health Centre in Kinondoni district in Dar es Salaam region received health materials worth 14 million shillings while Mikumi and Wazo Hill primary schools in the district received 50 iron sheets and 100 desks.

Kigogo, Mzimuni, Boko, Mtambani and Kiseuke  secondary schools also in Kinondoni district each  received 250 chairs and desks making NMB's total donation to educatin sector in the district to 36.6 million shillings.

Speaking during the handover ceremonies which took place at Mikumi primary grounds, Kinondoni District Commissioner Mr Godwin Gondwe applaud NMB's investment in education and health sectors saying it helps the fight against three national enemies namely poverty, illiteracy and disease.

"Through its corporate social responsibility (CSR) in health and education sectors, the NMB is enabling the nation to have well educated society with good health to work hard in developing the country," Mr Gondwe said

Earlier, the NMB Dar es Salaam zone manager, Mr Donatus Richard said the bank is committed to work hand to hand with the government and other stakeholders in supporting development projects in the country. 

"The NMB Bank Plc sets aside one percent of annual profit give back to the community through our corporate social responsibility policy. We will continue supporting education and health sectors countrywide," said Mr Richard 

In Bunda district, NMB Laze Zone manager, Mr Baraka Ladislaus handover 400 iron sheets worth 13.5 million shillings donated to Manyamanyama and Nyamanguta primary schools.

Receiving the donation, Bunda district commissioner Mr Joshua Nassari thanked the NMB management for gratitude support urging parents and local leaders to fully participate in supporting development projects in their respective areas.

"I am very much impressed with Manyamanyama residents whom had tirelessly worked hard to fulfill their plan of having their own secondary school. I promise to help in making sure this is being one of Bunda advanced level schools in the near future," the DC  promised

For Kaliua distric in Tabora region, the bank donated 90  iron sheets worth 9 million shillings to Ilege na Mkiligi primary schools.

The donation was handed over to the area district Commissioner Mr Chacha Matiko by the NMB Lake Zone Manager Mr Baraka Ladislaus.
